Some dogs – particularly bitches after they have been spayed – can be prone to gaining a little extra fat, even when they are fed 2% of their weight. The Nature’s Menu range of complete raw food contains vegetables which will keep your pooch feeling full without piling on the pounds. There are grain free and chicken free options within their offering and you should choose leaner meats, such as chicken, beef or fish.
Active dogs, such as spaniels, collies and sighthounds, are more likely to be unable to hold their weight and so would benefit from a complete meal that is high in protein, such as Nutriment and Natural Instinct. Although they also have fruit and veg in the mix, they are packed with meat and you should choose fattier choices such as duck, lamb and tripe. For a chunkier texture, try the Benyfit range of raw food. You could even add a little extra Just Tripe and feed 3-4% of their weight.
Alternately, if you prefer to diy your raw food, we offer a selection of meat chunks, bones and offal to create your own dog’s dinner. Bring your pooch into the store so that we can weigh him or her and design your pet a personalised meal plan.
