One Stop Shop
Just two years after opening the second shop in Aylesbury, it was clear that, once again, Unique Pets had outgrown itself. The small premises in Duck Farm Court had been extended to accommodate extra freezers, yet we were still regularly running low on raw food. In 2015 we scoured Aylesbury for new premises and finally found a large warehouse on Chamberlain Road. Unlike Duck Farm Court, which were retail units, there was a lot of work required to turn the warehouse into a large shop. Over a few weeks walls were pulled down and put up elsewhere, and a much larger walk-in freezer was installed.
With the extra space came the opportunity to create a one-stop shop and so Unique Pets Grooming was expanded and two connecting grooming rooms were created. Jenna’s partner, Tom, had joined the Unique Pets family in 2015 as a dog trainer having completed a number of training courses. He now commandeered a section at the front of the shop to become an indoor venue for Unique Pets Training. And Robin, Jenna’s dad, converted one of the offices upstairs to launch Unique Pets Photography.
With more space and a slight period of stability, Unique Pets was able to get involved with the local community in many ways. From training sessions for the National Trust at Blows Down, to ever-popular dog shows, nutritional talks, holistic health demonstrations, alternative therapy clinics and many charity events.
And of course we can’t forget the event of the year; Santa Paws! Over the years, Santa’s Grotto at Unique Pets saw many pets and children meet the big guy for a photo opportunity and to receive a small gift. We hope to one day recreate these wonderful memories when the pandemic restrictions allow Santa to see customers in person again.
Oh how we all miss that shop, and Tommy’s training 😩
